Our Mission

The Sunday Foundation, founded by Dr. Renee Sunday, M.D., is a nonprofit organization rooted in compassion and legacy. From humble beginnings, we’ve steadily expanded our reach through a commitment to serve with focus and purpose.

Every program, every event, and every initiative exists because we believe in doing what matters most: building people, honoring community, and creating spaces where equity, access, and dignity thrive.

We don’t just respond to needs—we anticipate, build, and partner for lasting impact. Across Georgia, Alabama, and beyond, our mission flows through every effort. And we’re just getting started.

Sunday Dinners – Senior Pantry Initiative

We’re preparing to launch Sunday Dinners, our signature senior pantry initiative—designed to serve 300+ seniors with more than just meals. Our vision is to provide food that nourishes, information that empowers, and consistent check-ins that offer encouragement and dignity. This isn’t just about groceries. This is about relationships, safety, and quality of life.

Our goal is to meet practical needs with deep purpose. With Sunday Dinners, we’re building a community of care that honors the wisdom and worth of our elders. As we approach our next milestone, we’re excited to grow this initiative into a model of senior wellness and support throughout the region.

Sam the Shark – Children’s Education & Health Programs

At the heart of our children’s work is Sam the Shark—a joyful character with a powerful mission. Sam teaches kids (ages 3–10) life skills through laughter, discovery, and engaging educational content. Sam’s programs promote hygiene, healthy habits, literacy, and confidence in fun, age-appropriate ways.

Through events, school visits, interactive resources, and an upcoming tour, Sam the Shark makes wellness approachable for kids and their families. Our long-term goal is to expand Sam’s reach into more schools, pediatric centers, and community spaces—empowering children to make smart choices for their health and future.

The Grant Clarity Lab – Coming Soon

Launching soon, The Grant Clarity Lab is designed to support nonprofits, faith-based organizations, and community leaders who are ready to grow but unsure where to start. This program offers grant-readiness resources, templates, workshops, and technical assistance to help emerging leaders gain clarity, confidence, and strategy.

Led by Dr. Renee Sunday’s extensive experience in grants, leadership development, and visibility strategy, the Grant Clarity Lab will equip change agents to build sustainable, fundable programs. This isn’t about quick wins—it’s about long-term impact. This is where preparation meets purpose.

Conferences & Community Events

We believe in the power of gathering with intention. Our conferences and community events serve as powerful platforms for transformation, education, and connection. From business development to spiritual growth, we curate experiences that pour into the whole person.

With over 500 youth and adults reached through our signature events—such as the Design of God Conference and Sunday Legacy Gala—we continue to expand our impact through workshops, panels, and partnerships that shift perspectives and launch purpose-driven journeys. Every gathering is a chance to build legacy through knowledge, faith, and community action.

Sunday Legacy Gala & Awards

The Sunday Legacy Gala is our annual celebration of purpose, service, and impact. It’s where we honor those who quietly uplift others—our unsung heroes, community champions, and legacy builders. With guests from across the South, and speakers from health, education, faith, and philanthropy, the Gala is both a fundraising event and a moment to spotlight excellence.

Held in Birmingham, AL, the evening includes an elegant dinner, awards presentation, and opportunities for leaders, sponsors, and supporters to rally behind our shared mission. It’s more than a gala—it’s a movement toward honoring the good that often goes unnoticed.
